Mia Hanak

Executive Director, Tahoe Public Art

Mia Hanak specializes in cause-related exhibition design, focusing on innovative public art
projects that embrace the important roles of art, culture, environment, education, science, and technology in contemporary society.

Ms. Hanak is recognized as a pioneering environmental leader in the art world, working in the industry for 17+ years, creating groundbreaking exhibitions, implementing interactive visitor experiences, and designing large-scale visual communications initiatives worldwide in partnership with the United Nations since 2005, and in partnership with the City of San Francisco starting in 2001.

Ms. Hanak has degrees in Art History and Cultural Anthropology from UC Santa Barbara and a master’s degree in Museum Studies from Tufts University, with an emphasis in Museum Management and Exhibition Design. Ms. Hanak is currently the Executive Director of Tahoe Public Art, and she was also the founder and Executive Director of Millennium ART (2010 - present) and the Natural World Museum of Environmental Art (2001-2008). Having traveled to over 40 countries, she brings a unique edge in her ability to transcend traditional boundaries and deliver environmental art experiences that are designed to inspire people to think globally and act locally.
